Bahrain has issued a strong condemnation of an attack carried out by the Iran-backed Houthi militia targeting a Saudi-operated vessel in the Red Sea. The incident has been described as a clear breach of international law and a significant threat to maritime safety.

The Saudi Press Agency reported that the assault caused a fire on the bow of the ship, which is managed by a Saudi company. Fortunately, there were no casualties resulting from the attack.

In an official statement, Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs labeled the attack a “blatant violation” of international law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. The ministry emphasized that such aggressive actions endanger global trade routes, energy supplies, and the freedom of navigation.

Expressing unwavering solidarity with Saudi Arabia, Bahrain reaffirmed its support for all measures taken by Riyadh to protect its sovereignty, security, and national interests. The ministry also urged the international community, especially the United Nations Security Council, to implement effective responses to prevent similar incidents.

Furthermore, Bahrain called for enhanced maritime security in critical waterways such as the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandeb. It stressed the importance of holding accountable those responsible for attacks that jeopardize regional and international stability.
