Inspector General of Punjab Police Abdul Karim has issued directives for a comprehensive security enhancement throughout Lahore and the entire province. Law enforcement agencies have been instructed to intensify vigilance at critical locations, including commercial centers, public gathering spots, and other sensitive areas.
He underscored that the primary responsibility of the police is to uphold law and order while safeguarding the lives, property, and assets of citizens. In a significant development, the IG emphasized the need for better coordination among police units and the activation of rapid response teams to effectively counter any emerging security threats.
Supervisory officers have been tasked with ensuring a visible police presence, utilizing all available resources to maintain peace and bolster public trust across Punjab. Senior officials are required to remain actively engaged in the field to oversee security measures and accurately assess on-ground conditions.
Security arrangements have been specifically tightened around shrines, bustling markets, and major highways. The IG ordered increased patrolling in these areas to prevent any untoward incidents and to enhance public confidence in law enforcement.
District Police Officers (DPOs) and other police personnel have been directed to spend more time in the field rather than remaining confined to offices. They are expected to continuously review and improve security protocols based on real-time observations.
Additionally, senior officers must actively engage with citizens at their doorsteps, attentively listen to their concerns, and ensure prompt resolution of public complaints. This approach aims to strengthen community relations and foster a cooperative environment between the police and the public.
