Pakistan and NATO have reiterated their dedication to deepening bilateral military cooperation following the conclusion of the 12th Round of Military Staff Talks held at NATO Headquarters in Brussels. This high-level dialogue provided a crucial platform to address the complexities of regional security and to explore new avenues for institutional collaboration between Pakistan and the North Atlantic alliance.

The Pakistani delegation was led by Lieutenant General Syed Aamer Raza, Chief of General Staff, while Major General Eray Üngüder, Director of the International Military Staff’s Cooperative Security Division, headed the NATO side. Central to their discussions was a thorough review of the current regional security environment. Both parties exchanged views on stability in South Asia and considered the wider implications of shifting global security dynamics.

In a significant development, the talks emphasized the importance of maintaining continuous communication channels to tackle shared challenges, reflecting a longstanding partnership that is adapting to a rapidly evolving geopolitical landscape.

Beyond strategic dialogue, the discussions placed strong emphasis on practical military cooperation. Both sides explored expanded opportunities for joint training, education, and exercises aimed at enhancing interoperability between their armed forces. The importance of professional military education was highlighted as a key foundation for future collaboration.

Following the sessions in Brussels, the Pakistani delegation visited the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in Mons, Belgium. This visit provided them with deeper insights into NATO’s operational frameworks and command structures, further strengthening mutual understanding and cooperation.
