A Joint Investigation Team formed to look into the killing of Mir Raza Ali in Karachi has finished its first meeting, which lasted five hours. During the session, a detailed statement was recorded from Mir Raza Ali’s father, who is the complainant in the case.

Advocate Jibran Nasir urged a thorough inquiry into the conduct of the SHO of Ferozabad Police Station and other people allegedly connected to the matter. The meeting was chaired by DIG Irfan Baloch and included representatives of several security agencies, who also went through the Judicial Commission’s report and the evidence gathered so far.

Family pushes for progress in the Mir Raza Ali investigation

Speaking to reporters after the session, Nasir said every concern had been put before the JIT. He added that the family would make itself available to the team whenever it was needed.

According to Nasir, the father’s statement pointed to alleged negligence by some police officers. Letters are to be sent to the Establishment Division and the Sindh Chief Minister on Monday, and he expressed hope that significant progress would be made within two weeks.

Concerns over a separate committee and officers still in post

Nasir also questioned a separate committee set up to examine the role of certain police officers. He said 10 to 15 days had passed with no information on its progress.

He pointed out that the officers concerned had not been removed from their positions, and that concerns previously shared with the inquiry committee had not been taken seriously.

He further demanded an investigation into the role of Mir Raza Ali’s business partner and police officers connected to the case. The family, he said, wants those responsible brought to justice and supporting evidence presented against them. He specifically asked for a detailed probe into the Ferozabad SHO, as well as Ahmed and Abdullah Bharde.
