MPs, local authorities, lawyers and schools across the UK are receiving floods of grievances, requests and legal challenges. Many are complex to read and respond to.
Hollie Wickens, a senior caseworker in a Labour MP’s office, described the daily reality of handling rising volumes of AI-generated correspondence. “It started as a trickle in 2024 and now it’s an onslaught,” she said.
She said half the emails her office receives are some form of AI, making requests and complaints more complex and time-consuming to handle, despite her decade in the role. “It is definitely more taxing,” she said.
