The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has officially released the detailed schedule for the delimitation process ahead of the upcoming local government elections in Punjab. This announcement marks a crucial step in preparing for the elections, as the delimitation of union councils will be conducted in accordance with the Punjab Local Government Act. The commission has emphasized strict adherence to the timeline to guarantee the process is completed efficiently and transparently.

the schedule, the initial administrative phase of the delimitation will conclude by April 16. Following this, the preliminary lists outlining the boundaries of union councils are set to be published between April 20 and 21. This early publication allows stakeholders and the public to review the proposed boundaries well in advance, fostering greater transparency in the electoral process.

In a significant development, the ECP has planned a period for public engagement where citizens can raise objections or concerns regarding the preliminary delimitation lists. The official list for public objections will be made available on May 25, with the window for submitting objections open from May 26 until June 23. This phase is critical as it provides an opportunity for the electorate to participate actively in shaping the electoral map.

Following the objection period, the commission will address and resolve all submitted concerns by July 22. Subsequently, delimitation committees will be briefed on the final decisions by August 4. The entire delimitation exercise is expected to culminate with the publication of the final list of union council boundaries across Punjab by August 10. This timeline ensures that all preparations are in place well before the local government elections, facilitating a smooth and organized electoral process.
