On Friday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif engaged in a significant telephone conversation with Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, marking a moment of diplomatic warmth coinciding with the Eidul Fitr celebrations. This exchange of greetings highlighted the deep-rooted friendship between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, underscoring the cultural and religious bonds that unite the two nations during this important festive occasion.

During their cordial dialogue, the Prime Minister extended his heartfelt Eid wishes not only to President Aliyev but also to the entire Azerbaijani population, emphasizing the spirit of brotherhood and solidarity that Pakistan shares with Azerbaijan. In response, President Aliyev reciprocated these warm sentiments, conveying his own best wishes to the people of Pakistan. Both leaders took a moment to pray for the unity and strength of the Muslim Ummah, reflecting their shared commitment to fostering harmony within the broader Islamic world.

Beyond the exchange of pleasantries, the conversation took a serious turn as both leaders addressed the escalating tensions and ongoing hostilities in Iran and the Gulf region. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif voiced Pakistan’s strong condemnation of the recent attacks targeting Azerbaijan, reaffirming Islamabad’s unwavering support and solidarity with its brotherly neighbor during these turbulent times. The gravity of the situation was acknowledged by both sides, who stressed the urgent need for de-escalation to prevent further deterioration of regional stability.

In a joint call for peace, the two heads of state urged all parties involved to prioritize dialogue and diplomatic engagement as the most effective means to resolve outstanding conflicts. Their shared stance reflects a broader regional desire to avoid military confrontations and instead seek peaceful solutions through negotiation and mutual understanding. This approach aligns with Pakistan’s long-standing foreign policy principles advocating for peaceful conflict resolution and regional cooperation.

Moreover, the conversation highlighted the positive trajectory of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the growing cooperation and reaffirmed their mutual determination to deepen these fraternal ties. This commitment is expected to pave the way for enhanced collaboration in various sectors, including trade, cultural exchange, and strategic partnership, further strengthening the bond between the two countries.

Overall, the phone call between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Ilham Aliyev not only reinforced the warm ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan but also underscored their shared responsibility in promoting peace and stability in a volatile region. The timing of this dialogue during Eidul Fitr added a layer of spiritual significance, reminding both nations of the values of compassion, unity, and cooperation in the face of adversity.
