The sub-national anti-polio drive continued for a sixth consecutive day across 97 selected districts in Pakistan, the National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) said.
The campaign runs until November 8. In its first five days, as many as 20.34 million children received polio drops.
Workforce and vaccination targets
More than 200,000 polio workers are taking part, and the drive is being conducted simultaneously in Pakistan and Afghanistan. The campaign aims to vaccinate a total of 20.40 million children.
NEOC urges parents to cooperate fully
The NEOC said the threat of the virus persists and that polio drops for children under five are the only effective defence against the disease. It urged parents to cooperate fully with vaccination teams.
“Ensure that all children aged five and under receive polio drops during this drive,” the NEOC stressed. It also stressed completing the routine immunisation injection schedule to protect children against several preventable diseases.
