Attaullah Tarar Strongly Denounces Afghan Taliban’s Cross-Border Assault in Bajaur

Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has publicly condemned a recent cross-border attack carried out by the Afghan Taliban government, which targeted innocent civilians residing in Pakistan’s Bajaur district. The minister’s statement came through his official social media account, where he expressed deep outrage over the violent incident that unfolded in the Tabasta Letai area of Salarzai tehsil.

Minister Tarar, the attack involved shelling from across the border, deliberately aimed at civilian homes. Tragically, this assault resulted in the martyrdom of four brothers—Sajid, Ayaz, Riyaz, and Moaz—who lost their lives in the shelling. Additionally, a five-year-old child sustained serious injuries when a shell struck their residence, highlighting the indiscriminate nature of the violence. The minister emphasized that these victims were non-combatants, underscoring the brutality of targeting defenseless families.

The Bajaur district, located along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, has historically been a sensitive region prone to cross-border tensions and sporadic violence. This latest incident has once again brought to light the fragile security situation in the area, where local communities live under the constant threat of such attacks. Residents of the affected locality have voiced profound grief and anger, condemning the Afghan Taliban’s actions as a blatant disregard for human life and international norms.

Minister Tarar pointed out that the deliberate targeting of civilians constitutes a clear violation of international humanitarian law, which strictly prohibits attacks on non-combatants during conflicts. He further remarked that such acts reflect the current challenges and setbacks faced by the Afghan Taliban government, suggesting that these attacks may be driven by desperation or strategic miscalculations.

In response to this heinous act, the minister assured that Pakistani security forces are taking firm and decisive measures to hold those responsible accountable. He reiterated the government’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of its citizens, especially in border areas vulnerable to such aggression. The incident has also sparked calls for increased vigilance and enhanced border security to prevent future occurrences.

Overall, this cross-border attack has once again underscored the volatility of the Pakistan-Afghanistan frontier and the urgent need for peaceful resolution and stability in the region. The loss of innocent lives serves as a grim reminder of the human cost of ongoing tensions and the importance of upholding international laws designed to protect civilians in conflict zones.
