Hyderabad Faces Six-Hour Power Outage for Essential Maintenance on March 15

The Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) has scheduled a planned power outage lasting six hours on the 15th of March, 2026, affecting several localities within the city. This temporary suspension of electricity is necessary to enable maintenance crews to perform vital infrastructure work aimed at improving the reliability and safety of the power distribution network.

the official statement released by HESCO, the electricity supply will be halted from 7:00 in the morning until 1:00 in the afternoon. This interruption will impact 14 feeders operating at 11kV voltage, which are energized through three key grid stations serving the Hyderabad area. The affected feeders are primarily connected to the Latifabad, TM Khan Road, and NTPS grid stations, which collectively provide power to a significant portion of the city’s residential and commercial zones.

The maintenance activities planned during this shutdown include the erection of new utility poles, the installation of high-capacity transmission wires, and sagging work to ensure proper tension and alignment of the cables. These upgrades are part of HESCO’s ongoing efforts to enhance the electrical infrastructure, reduce the risk of outages, and support the growing demand for electricity in Hyderabad.

It is important for residents and businesses in the affected areas to prepare for this scheduled blackout by making necessary arrangements to minimize disruption. HESCO has urged consumers to take precautions such as charging essential devices in advance and avoiding the use of heavy electrical appliances during the outage window. The company also assured that all work will be conducted swiftly and safely to restore power as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, in a related development, the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has recently introduced a four-day office work policy. This move aims to curb operational costs amid rising fuel prices, reflecting the broader challenges faced by power distribution companies across Pakistan. Such measures highlight the ongoing balancing act between maintaining service quality and managing financial sustainability in the energy sector.
