Lebanon Reports 486 Fatalities from Israeli Airstrikes Since Early March

The Lebanese Ministry of Health has confirmed that the death toll from Israeli airstrikes across Lebanon has climbed to 486 fatalities, with more than 1,300 people injured since the onset of hostilities last week. This grim update was released on Monday, reflecting a significant increase from earlier figures reported by the ministry.

the official statement, the casualties occurred between the early hours of Monday, March 2, and Monday afternoon, March 9. The ministry described the victims as “martyrs,” underscoring the severity and human cost of the ongoing conflict. The number of wounded individuals has also surged to 1,313, highlighting the widespread impact on civilians and infrastructure.

Prior to this announcement, the ministry had reported a lower death toll of 394, indicating that the situation on the ground has deteriorated rapidly over the past several days. The escalation in casualties corresponds with intensified Israeli military operations targeting various locations within Lebanon, which have drawn international concern and condemnation.

It is important to note that independent verification of these figures remains challenging due to restricted access to affected areas and ongoing hostilities. Nonetheless, the Lebanese health authorities continue to provide updates as they gather more information from hospitals and emergency responders across the country.

The recent surge in violence marks one of the deadliest periods in the region in recent years, exacerbating an already fragile humanitarian situation. The international community has called for restraint and urged both sides to seek peaceful solutions to prevent further loss of life and destruction.
