Speculation has been swirling around the entertainment world that Cillian Murphy might take on the role of Lord Voldemort in the forthcoming Harry Potter television adaptation. This rumor gained traction partly because the series producers have yet to announce who will portray the infamous dark wizard, a character previously immortalized by Ralph Fiennes in the film franchise. Adding fuel to the fire, Chris Columbus, the director behind two of the original Harry Potter films, expressed enthusiasm about Murphy potentially stepping into the role. Columbus described Murphy as one of his favorite actors and suggested that casting him as Voldemort would be an exciting choice for fans.

However, Murphy himself has been quick to dismiss these claims. In a candid interview with The Times, he unequivocally denied any involvement with the Harry Potter series, stating, “I’m categorically not” playing Voldemort. He even humorously requested that his denial be made the headline, emphasizing how unfounded the rumors were. This clarification came as a relief to many who were curious but uncertain about the casting news, highlighting how quickly misinformation can spread in the age of social media and fan speculation.

Meanwhile, Murphy has been busy promoting the final chapter of his critically acclaimed role as Tommy Shelby in the Peaky Blinders saga. At the world premiere of “Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man” held in Birmingham, he reflected on the evolution of his character from the aftermath of World War I through to the 1940s. When asked about the complexities of portraying Shelby’s transformation over such a turbulent period, Murphy acknowledged the depth of the role, noting that it would be impossible to summarize in a brief soundbite. He encouraged audiences to experience the full 36 hours of the series to truly appreciate the intricate storytelling and character development.

Expressing his pride in the show, Murphy praised the dedication of the cast and crew, as well as the passionate fanbase that has supported Peaky Blinders throughout its run. The new installment, “The Immortal Man,” is set to premiere in select cinemas on March 6 before becoming available on Netflix starting March 20. The series has garnered immense popularity, with its latest release generating significant buzz and anticipation among viewers worldwide.

In light of the recent Voldemort rumors, Murphy’s clear denial has helped set the record straight, allowing fans to focus on his current and upcoming projects. His portrayal of Tommy Shelby remains a defining role in his career, and the excitement surrounding the Peaky Blinders finale underscores his continued impact on television drama. As the entertainment industry awaits official announcements about the Harry Potter series casting, Murphy’s statement serves as a reminder of the importance of verifying information before it becomes widespread speculation.
