Muslims throughout Pakistan are commemorating Eid Milad un Nabi with deep religious devotion and solemnity, honoring the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) through prayers, processions, and special events. The day commenced with a 31-gun salute in Islamabad and 21-gun salutes in provincial capitals, followed by prayers after Fajr seeking unity among Muslims and the peace, progress, and prosperity of Pakistan.

The government has declared August 26 a public holiday nationwide to mark the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal, 1448 AH, with Sindh also observing the holiday. Across the country, streets, roads, buildings, mosques, and homes have been adorned with green buntings, flags, and vibrant lights in celebration of the occasion.

Various conferences, religious gatherings, and Mahafil-e-Milad are taking place, while processions organized by religious bodies, Milad committees, government agencies, and community groups are being held in cities nationwide. Religious scholars and speakers are delivering sermons emphasizing different facets of the Prophet’s life and encouraging adherence to his teachings and Sunnah.

In keeping with tradition, sweets and food are being distributed in markets, orphanages, and neighborhoods, reflecting the charitable spirit associated with the event. A key official highlight is the International Seerat-un-Nabi Conference in Islamabad, hosted by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony. This year’s theme focuses on “Protection, Development and Character Building of the Younger Generation in the Light of Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH).”

The conference features participation from religious scholars, intellectuals, researchers, university professors, parliamentarians, diplomats, government officials, media representatives, and distinguished guests from Pakistan and various Islamic countries. Presentations include academic papers, recommendations, and practical proposals addressing the Prophet’s life and teachings, with an emphasis on their application to contemporary national challenges.

In a significant development, the National Assembly session held yesterday passed a resolution urging national-level observance of Eid Milad un Nabi. The resolution called on federal and provincial governments to ensure broad participation and recommended illumination and decoration of highways, roads, educational institutions, business centers, and media organizations.

The House also highlighted the promotion of peace, tolerance, and brotherhood in line with the Prophet’s teachings. It encouraged the nation to celebrate the occasion with reverence, unity, and a renewed commitment to following the Sunnah.

Eid Milad un Nabi is celebrated on the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar, by Muslims across Pakistan and globally. The day is marked by prayers, charitable acts, and gatherings focused on the life and message of the Prophet Muhammad, who is revered as a mercy and blessing for all humanity.
