A Karachi court on Thursday acquitted Anmol, also known as Pinky, who was accused of being a major drug dealer, in three narcotics cases filed against her at the Gizri police station. These cases were registered in 2020, 2021, and 2022, all related to alleged cocaine trafficking.
At the start of the hearing, Pinky’s lawyer argued that her name was included in the cases solely based on statements from co-accused individuals, who had already been acquitted. The defense counsel requested the court to clear Anmol, stating that with the co-accused acquitted, there was no basis for convicting her.
Following this, the additional district and sessions judge (south) dismissed all three cases against Anmol.
Anmol Pinky was initially arrested on May 12 from her apartment in Karachi’s Garden area during a joint operation by police and a civilian intelligence agency. She was accused of managing a widespread drug supply network across the city. However, she denied these allegations, claiming she was detained in Lahore two weeks before being transferred to Karachi.
Authorities had reported recovering a weapon, cocaine, and other drugs valued at approximately Rs1.5 million from her possession. During the arrest operation, investigators informed the court that 1,540 grams of cocaine and 6,970 grams of raw material were seized.
The case gained public attention after a video circulated on social media showing Anmol being escorted by police without handcuffs at the court, which led to widespread criticism over the police’s special treatment of the alleged drug dealer. Since then, she has been presented in court under strict security and following standard operating procedures.
Currently, Anmol Pinky faces around a dozen other cases.
