In a tragic incident near Teen Talwar in Karachi’s Clifton area on Monday, a man lost his life following an exchange of gunfire between armed robbers and a bank security guard. The police have detained the security guard and initiated a thorough investigation into the case.

The victim, identified as Akash, was traveling with his father and cousin after withdrawing cash from one bank and heading to another. Their vehicle was carrying two packets, each containing Rs2.5 million. As the car stopped near the bank, robbers approached from behind. The bank’s security guard, mistaking the occupants for the assailants, opened fire. The robbers retaliated, leading to a shootout.

During the confrontation, the robbers escaped with one packet containing Rs2.5 million. Authorities are still determining whether Akash was killed by gunfire from the security guard or the robbers. The crime scene has been sealed off, with forensic and investigative teams collecting evidence.

The security guard remains in custody for questioning as part of the ongoing inquiry. Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho has taken serious note of the incident, requesting a detailed report from the DIG South. He has ordered a transparent and comprehensive investigation to clarify the circumstances of the killing and to ensure the arrest of those responsible.

Akash’s body was transferred from the hospital to the morgue following the incident. Meanwhile, his family has demanded swift justice and threatened to hold a sit-in protest with the body until the suspects are apprehended.

Speaking outside Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, the victim’s uncle, Khem Chand, stated that Akash was shot while traveling with his family. He highlighted that the family belongs to the business community, owning a cotton factory in Sukkur, and emphasized their significant tax contributions. The family called on Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Field Marshal Asim Munir to intervene promptly, warning that continued violence against educated professionals could erode public confidence in living and working in the country.
