In Karachi’s Lea Market area, a six-year-old boy was reportedly abducted, sexually assaulted, and killed, leading to the arrest of the prime suspect, who is the victim’s neighbour. Authorities have launched a thorough investigation into the case.

South DIG Asad Raza confirmed that the suspect was taken into custody following initial inquiries, with the case progressing based on what police described as compelling evidence. The investigation remains active, and officials have pledged to ensure justice is served in accordance with the law.

In a significant development, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah responded promptly by requesting a detailed report from the Inspector General of Police. He emphasized that the suspect must face the harshest legal consequences and insisted that no leniency be granted to anyone involved in the child’s alleged sexual assault and murder.

The chief minister also ordered that the inquiry be conducted transparently, impartially, and strictly on merit, while ensuring the victim’s family receives full legal support and justice. He described the incident as profoundly tragic and inhumane, highlighting that crimes against children are intolerable and represent a serious threat to society.

Meanwhile, Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar took notice of the case and demanded an immediate, comprehensive report from the South DIG. He instructed officials to provide a detailed update on the suspect’s arrest and the investigation’s progress.

Lanjar directed the authorities to carry out an unbiased and transparent investigation into all aspects of the case and to finalize the charge sheet based on strong evidence to guarantee the maximum punishment under the law. He reiterated that delivering justice to the grieving family remains the government’s highest priority.

Additionally, the home minister called for enhanced security and child protection measures throughout the city. He tasked the SSP City with regularly updating the Home Department on the investigation’s developments, underscoring the commitment to safeguarding children and preventing such tragedies in the future.
