Rain and Storm Disrupt Islamabad and Peshawar with Power Outages

Residents of Islamabad and Peshawar faced sudden weather disturbances as both cities experienced rainfall accompanied by strong winds and stormy conditions. In Islamabad, rain began late Tuesday evening across multiple areas, prompting authorities to remain active on the ground and coordinate with traffic police to maintain smooth traffic flow despite the adverse weather.

Officials advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel during the severe weather to ensure public safety. The strong winds caused a tree to fall onto a vehicle on Ibn-e-Sina Road in Sector G10-3, resulting in one person sustaining injuries. The injured individual was promptly taken to a hospital for medical care, while rescue teams cleared the obstruction from the road.

Meanwhile, Peshawar experienced similarly intense stormy winds that disrupted daily activities and led to widespread power outages throughout the city and its surrounding areas. Over 200 feeders connected to 12 grids tripped due to the high winds, forcing the suspension of electricity supply from multiple grids, as confirmed by a spokesperson from the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO).

In a significant development, PESCO officials stated that power restoration efforts will commence gradually once the storm’s intensity decreases. Emergency response teams have been placed on high alert to manage the situation and ensure a swift recovery.
