Gold Prices in Pakistan Drop Amid Global Market Decline

Gold prices in Pakistan decreased by Rs800 per tola on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, lowering the rate to Rs465,336, as per the All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA). This drop aligns with a decline in international bullion markets, where spot gold fell by $8 to $4,428 per ounce.

Notably, this marks the second consecutive day of losses for local gold buyers. On Monday, August 31, prices had already dropped by Rs1,800 per tola, resulting in a total reduction of approximately Rs2,600 over just two trading sessions.

Tuesday’s rates in Pakistan were as follows: gold per tola at Rs465,336, down Rs800; gold per 10 grams at Rs398,950, down Rs686; international spot gold at $4,428 per ounce, down $8; gold premium steady at $20; and silver per tola at Rs7,129, down Rs50.

The downward trend in Pakistan’s gold prices reflects a softer global bullion market session. Since local gold prices are closely linked to international benchmarks, adjusted for the rupee-dollar exchange rate and a fixed import premium of $20, fluctuations abroad directly impact domestic rates.

Gold has experienced significant volatility from the last week of August into early September, with local prices swinging by over Rs15,000 per tola in some sessions. These movements are driven by global investors reacting to signals from the US Federal Reserve and changing expectations regarding interest rate policies.

Over the two-day period, gold prices fell as follows: on Monday, August 31, the price per tola declined by Rs1,800 to Rs466,136; on Tuesday, September 1, it dropped a further Rs800 to Rs465,336. Combined, this represents a substantial Rs2,600 decrease from the start of the week, a significant change for those monitoring gold for jewelry, savings, or investment purposes.

Meanwhile, silver prices also declined, falling Rs50 to close at Rs7,129 per tola in the local market.
