Petrol and Diesel Prices Increased Again from July 25 in Pakistan

Petrol and diesel prices have increased once more starting July 25, following the government’s announcement of a fresh hike in petroleum rates. This adjustment adds to the financial strain on consumers who are already grappling with rising transportation and household expenses.

The revised rates set high-speed diesel at Rs383.46 per litre, marking an increase of Rs4.80 per litre. Petrol prices have also been raised by Rs3.66 per litre, reaching Rs335.18 per litre. The Petroleum Division confirmed that these new prices took effect from July 25.

This latest surge is part of a continuing trend of daily price adjustments that have significantly raised fuel costs. Since the implementation of daily pricing, petrol prices have climbed by Rs24.47 per litre, while diesel has surged by Rs60.16 per litre.

Breaking down recent changes, petrol was increased by Rs5.44 per litre and diesel by Rs31.05 per litre on July 18. On July 21, petrol saw a slight reduction of 35 paisa per litre, whereas diesel was increased by Rs5.71 per litre. The following day, July 22, petrol prices rose by Rs4.93 per litre and diesel by Rs7.15 per litre. On July 23, petrol increased by Rs6.39 per litre and diesel by Rs7.83 per litre. The most recent hike before July 25 occurred on July 24, when petrol prices were raised by Rs4.40 per litre and diesel by Rs3.62 per litre.

The persistent escalation in fuel prices is anticipated to further impact transportation costs and household budgets. Diesel price hikes are particularly consequential as they directly affect freight charges, public transportation, and agricultural operations.

In a significant development, the government attributes these increases to fluctuations in global oil prices driven by the ongoing conflict between Iran and the United States, which continues to create volatility in the international energy market.
