Pakistan and Romania have formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing bilateral collaboration and maritime connectivity between Karachi Port and the Port of Constanta, located on the Black Sea. The agreement was signed by Shahid Ahmed, Chairman of Karachi Port Trust, and Mihai Teodorescu, General Manager of the Port of Constanta Administration.

The virtual signing ceremony included the participation of Dan Stoenescu, Romania’s Ambassador to Pakistan, alongside officials from the Foreign Affairs and Transport Ministries of both nations, as well as members of the Pakistan-Romania Business Council. This MoU underscores a mutual commitment to improving shipping routes, thereby facilitating more efficient trade between South Asia and Europe.

In a significant development, the agreement is expected to bolster Pakistan’s maritime sector and contribute to the growth of its blue economy. Concurrently, it reinforces Romania’s strategic position as a key logistical gateway to the European Union. The improved connectivity between Karachi and Constanta ports is anticipated to open new avenues for bilateral trade and investment opportunities.

During the event, Ambassador Dan Stoenescu highlighted Romania’s ambition to expand its exports to Pakistan and strengthen its economic footprint across Asia. He noted that this partnership establishes a progressive framework for sustainable economic cooperation, promoting balanced trade flows between the two countries.
