Starc’s rise by two places marks a notable achievement, while fellow Australian and captain Pat Cummins also improved his ranking, moving up one spot to fourth among bowlers. This reflects Australia’s strong bowling performance in recent matches.
Among batsmen, Pakistan’s Abdullah Shafique recorded the most impressive climb, advancing seven places to reach 28th in the rankings. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam remains the sole representative from his country within the top 10 batters. England’s Harry Brook continues to hold the number one position in the Test batting rankings.
In the team standings, Bangladesh made a significant leap, rising three places to sixth. Conversely, Pakistan slipped one position down to eighth. These adjustments come as part of the ICC’s comprehensive update across Test teams, batsmen, and bowlers.
In a disciplinary development, Sri Lanka’s Prabath Jayasuriya received a warning and was handed a demerit point during the second Test against India. The sanction followed Jayasuriya’s act of striking the boundary boards after his dismissal at the close of the second day’s play. This marks the third disciplinary action in the match, with India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sri Lanka’s Asitha Fernando having been fined earlier.
