Former Snooker Champion Graeme Dott Convicted of Historical Sexual Abuse

Former snooker world champion Graeme Dott has been found guilty of sexually abusing two children many years ago following a trial in a Scottish court. The High Court in Glasgow convicted the 49-year-old on charges related to incidents involving a girl from 1993 to 1996 and a boy between 2006 and 2010.

The court’s indictment detailed that Dott sexually assaulted the girl, exposed himself to her, and persuaded her to touch him. Additionally, he was accused of making inappropriate sexual comments to the boy and touching his genitals. Despite denying all allegations, Dott was convicted after the trial.

Sentencing is scheduled for next month. In a significant development, Detective Inspector Gary Smillie of Police Scotland described Dott as a dangerous individual and expressed hope that the conviction brings some relief to the victims affected by his actions.

Dott achieved notable success in his snooker career, winning the world championship in 2006 by defeating Peter Ebdon 18-14, and finishing as runner-up in 2004 and 2010. Following the announcement of the charges last year, he was suspended by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association.
