Tottenham’s Vicario Joins Juventus on Season-Long Loan Deal

In a significant development in the football transfer market, Juventus have acquired goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario from Tottenham Hotspur on a season-long loan. The Serie A giants confirmed the move on Tuesday, which includes an option to make the transfer permanent at the conclusion of the 2024-25 season. Tottenham also announced the agreement, marking a notable shift for the Italian shot-stopper.

Vicario, 29, initially joined Tottenham Hotspur from Empoli in 2023. During his time with the north London club, he made a total of 117 appearances and recorded 29 clean sheets, showcasing his reliability between the posts. Notably, he was a key member of the Spurs squad that clinched the Europa League title in 2025, ending the club’s 17-year wait for a major trophy and adding a prestigious accolade to his career.

Before his move to England, Vicario’s career was rooted in Italy, where he developed through the ranks at Udinese. He also had spells with Venezia, Perugia, Cagliari, and Empoli, gaining valuable experience across Serie A and Serie B. His consistent performances earned him recognition at the international level, leading to his first senior call-up for Italy in March 2024. Since then, he has earned five caps, establishing himself as a promising option for the national team.

Meanwhile, Juventus will be looking to strengthen their goalkeeping options with Vicario’s arrival, hoping his experience and shot-stopping abilities will bolster their squad for the upcoming season. The loan deal provides the club with flexibility, allowing them to assess his impact before deciding on a permanent transfer. This move also reflects Juventus’ ambition to compete at the highest level domestically and in European competitions.
