In a thrilling conclusion to the Women’s T20 World Cup, Australia emerged victorious by defeating England by 7 wickets in the final held at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground on Sunday. This win marks Australia’s seventh title in the tournament’s history, further cementing their dominance in women’s international cricket.

England, batting first, set a competitive target of 150 runs for 4 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Nat Sciver-Brunt was the standout performer for the hosts, remaining unbeaten on 58 runs off 63 deliveries. She was well supported by Freya Kemp, who contributed a quickfire 44 runs from 28 balls, and Alice Capsey, who added 23 runs off 20 balls. Despite their solid effort, England found it challenging to accelerate during the final overs, which ultimately limited their total.

Chasing 153 to claim the championship, Australia responded confidently, reaching the target in 17.1 overs with 17 balls remaining. Beth Mooney played a pivotal role with a fluent 64 runs from 49 balls, anchoring the innings alongside Phoebe Litchfield, who scored a valuable 48 runs off 35 deliveries. Ellyse Perry remained unbeaten on 13 runs from 12 balls, ensuring a composed finish as Australia comfortably crossed the line.

This victory not only highlights Australia’s consistent excellence in the Women’s T20 World Cup but also underscores their ability to perform under pressure in high-stakes matches. The team’s strategic batting and disciplined bowling throughout the tournament have once again set a benchmark in women’s cricket, inspiring future generations of players worldwide.
