Yadgar-i-Fatah Monument Unveiled in Islamabad Before 79th Independence Day

In a significant development ahead of Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day, the Yadgar-i-Fatah monument was officially inaugurated in Islamabad on Thursday evening. This monument has been erected to pay tribute to the martyrs of Pakistan and to commemorate the historic Marka-i-Haq, a term used by Pakistan to describe its military success during a brief but intense conflict with India.

The inauguration ceremony was marked by a formal guard of honour presented by a large assembly of military, paramilitary, and police forces. A military band provided solemn music, adding to the gravity of the occasion. The event was attended by senior military officers and government dignitaries, reflecting the importance of the monument in the national narrative.

The Yadgar-i-Fatah monument symbolizes Pakistan’s claimed victory over India during the military confrontation that unfolded in May. This conflict originated with the Pahalgam attack on April 22 and continued until a ceasefire was established on May 10. The ceasefire followed Pakistan’s Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, which played a pivotal role in the hostilities.

Notably, the Pakistani government refers to this confrontation as “Marka-i-Haq,” or the “Battle of Truth,” underscoring the ideological and strategic significance attributed to the operation. The monument stands as a reminder of the sacrifices made and the resilience demonstrated during this period, reinforcing national pride as the country approaches its Independence Day celebrations.
