Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide is scheduled to visit Pakistan on August 13 and 14, marking the first visit by a Norwegian foreign minister to the country in ten years. This diplomatic engagement comes at the invitation of Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, highlighting a renewed focus on strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.
During the visit, both leaders will engage in delegation-level discussions aimed at covering the entire spectrum of Pakistan-Norway relations. Key topics on the agenda include expanding cooperation in trade and investment, addressing climate change challenges, promoting renewable energy initiatives, enhancing educational exchanges, and fostering people-to-people connections. In a significant development, the visit builds upon ongoing high-level interactions between Pakistan and Norway. Earlier this year, Senator Dar and Minister Eide held telephone conversations in March and April 2026, reflecting sustained diplomatic dialogue. Additionally, Norway’s State Secretary Andreas Motzfeldt Kravik visited Islamabad in May 2026, further underscoring the commitment to maintaining close ties.
