Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi reiterated on Saturday that the federal government remains committed to providing all necessary support to achieve lasting peace in Balochistan. He described a coordinated operational strategy as essential in combating terrorism effectively.

Naqvi made these remarks while co-chairing a high-level meeting in Quetta with Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti to assess the province’s law and order situation. Both leaders reaffirmed their dedication to enhancing security and ensuring sustained peace throughout the region.

This meeting took place amid ongoing security operations targeting foreign-backed militant groups, following a significant surge in terrorist incidents within the province. A recent report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) highlighted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan were the main hotspots of violence during the second quarter of 2026. Together, these provinces accounted for nearly 96% of all fatalities related to violence, with KP reporting over 61% (475 deaths) and Balochistan 34% (265 deaths).

During the session, CM Bugti provided an extensive briefing on the current security landscape, ongoing counterterrorism efforts, and the government’s strategic plans to maintain stability. The meeting resolved to further develop the professional capabilities of the Balochistan Counter Terrorism Force (CTF) and the provincial police. Additionally, participants agreed to expedite the implementation of previously approved initiatives aimed at strengthening the police force.

The Interior Ministry assured full cooperation with the provincial government to supply the necessary resources for upgrading Balochistan’s security infrastructure. Minister Naqvi emphasized the urgent need for the swift and effective execution of the province’s peace restoration master plan.

He also highlighted the importance of leveraging the experience of former Balochistan police chiefs in shaping the security strategy. Naqvi underscored that modern technology, improved intelligence capabilities, and a unified operational approach are vital components in the fight against terrorism.

the Interior Minister, both federal and provincial governments are working in complete harmony to establish enduring peace. He asserted that these collective efforts would enhance the state’s capacity to address evolving security threats.

Chief Minister Bugti reaffirmed the provincial government’s determination to stay ahead of terrorist elements on all fronts, stressing that no external pressure would hinder the state’s anti-terrorism campaign. He declared that the writ of the state would be upheld at all costs, leaving no room for terrorists in Balochistan.

Bugti also emphasized that creating opportunities for youth through education, skill development, employment, and positive engagement remains a top priority. He stressed that promoting meritocracy is crucial to restoring youth confidence and ensuring equal opportunities for advancement.

The chief minister concluded by linking peace, development, and prosperity as interconnected goals, pledging that the provincial government will continue to advance security and development efforts simultaneously. He noted that the implementation of peace initiatives and development projects across Balochistan would accelerate with ongoing federal support.
