Old Footage of Saudi Crown Prince Jet Misrepresented as Iranian Escort by PAF

Videos circulating on social media that purportedly show Pakistan Air Force (PAF) jets escorting an Iranian delegation have been proven misleading. The footage is unrelated to any recent diplomatic activities involving Iran.

The clips actually date back to February 2019, when PAF fighter jets accompanied the aircraft of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during his official visit to Pakistan. This escort was part of a ceremonial reception for the visiting dignitary.

Despite this, the same footage has recently resurfaced online with false claims that it depicts an Iranian delegation being escorted amid ongoing regional diplomatic engagements. Some posts have further distorted the narrative by alleging the presence of advanced surveillance support such as AWACS aircraft.

Independent verification confirms that the video predates current geopolitical developments and has no connection to Iran or any recent diplomatic mission. This incident underscores a growing trend of old videos being recirculated with misleading captions, which fuels confusion around sensitive regional issues.

In conclusion, the assertion that PAF jets escorted an Iranian delegation is incorrect. While the footage is genuine, it originally shows the 2019 visit of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to Pakistan during the tenure of the PTI government.
