Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has instructed the rapid advancement of significant highway projects in Sindh, making it clear that any further delays will not be accepted. During his visit to the National Highway Authority (NHA) regional office in Karachi, he chaired a high-level meeting focused on the progress and challenges of infrastructure development across the province.

The discussions centered on administrative hurdles and security issues impacting project execution. A detailed assessment was conducted on major highways including N-120, N-110, N-5, N-55, and the M-6 Motorway. Abdul Aleem Khan issued firm orders to accelerate all pending work, stressing that construction quality and transparency must remain uncompromised.

In a significant development, the minister approved the creation of specialized teams to tackle operational difficulties on Sindh’s highways. Key resolutions were made concerning the repair and expansion of bridges, alongside a strategic evaluation of the toll tax collection system to enhance resource management.

Furthermore, Abdul Aleem Khan mandated that all future toll plazas in Sindh adopt a standardized design to facilitate smoother travel for commuters. He also introduced performance-based incentives for NHA personnel, linking rewards to revenue targets and project milestones. The General Manager was instructed to submit weekly progress reports prioritizing rehabilitation efforts and cutting unnecessary costs.

Concluding his visit, the minister reaffirmed the government’s dedication to delivering world-class travel infrastructure. He highlighted the importance of modernizing procurement procedures and contract frameworks, particularly for the M-6 Motorway, to uphold the highest standards. Abdul Aleem Khan emphasized that serving the public with accountability and performance remains the core mission of the National Highway Authority.
