Punjab Government Prohibits Temporary Mechanical Rides During Eid for Public Safety

In a decisive move aimed at safeguarding public welfare during the upcoming Eid al-Fitr celebrations, the Punjab Home Department has officially prohibited the operation of all temporary mechanical rides throughout the province. This directive, which also covers major cities such as Multan, reflects the government’s heightened focus on preventing accidents and ensuring the safety of festival-goers during one of the busiest holiday periods of the year.

The Deputy Commissioner of Multan, Nauman Siddique, has issued a formal notification instructing all relevant authorities to conduct thorough safety inspections of amusement rides within the city. He emphasized that only mechanical rides permanently installed in recognized amusement parks will be permitted to function during the Eid holidays. Furthermore, these rides must hold valid fitness certificates, demonstrating compliance with established safety standards before they can be allowed to operate.

To reinforce this policy, owners and operators of mechanical rides are now required to secure certification from their respective Deputy Commissioners. This certification serves as official confirmation that the rides meet all necessary safety and maintenance criteria. The decision to restrict temporary rides comes in response to increasing concerns over the risks posed by such installations, which often lack proper security measures and are vulnerable to hazards caused by overloading or inadequate upkeep.

In addition to these measures, special enforcement teams have been formed under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner City Azka Sahar. These teams will be responsible for monitoring security protocols at all public venues during the Eid festivities, ensuring that safety regulations are strictly followed and that any violations are promptly addressed. This comprehensive approach aims to minimize the chances of accidents and provide a secure environment for families and visitors enjoying the holiday.

The Punjab government’s proactive stance highlights the importance of public safety during large-scale celebrations, especially when amusement rides attract significant crowds. By limiting operations to only certified permanent rides, authorities hope to prevent tragic incidents and reassure the public that their well-being remains a top priority during the festive season.
