Large Fire Erupts in Lahore’s Lunda Bazaar Cloth Warehouse, Prompt Rescue Response

On Friday, a substantial fire erupted in a clothing storage facility located within Lunda Bazaar, one of Lahore’s busiest commercial hubs. The incident took place in a godown situated in Babu Haveli, an area adjacent to the Lahore Railway Station, known for its dense concentration of wholesale markets. The blaze quickly drew the attention of local residents and traders, prompting an immediate response from emergency services.

Within minutes of the fire being reported, Rescue 1122 dispatched multiple emergency vehicles and firefighting teams to the scene. The firefighters launched an intensive operation aimed at containing the flames and preventing the fire from spreading to neighboring shops and warehouses. Thanks to their swift and coordinated efforts, the fire was brought under control without any reported loss of life or serious injuries, providing relief to the community and business owners affected by the incident.

It is important to note that this is not the first time such an incident has occurred in Lahore’s textile markets. In December 2025, a similar fire broke out at a cloth shop in the Azam Cloth Market, located in the Rang Mahal area of the city. That fire originated in a warehouse on the fifth floor of Karachi Plaza, a multi-story commercial building known for its concentration of textile businesses. Rescue 1122 teams responded promptly to that emergency as well, deploying ten vehicles and 35 personnel to tackle the blaze.

The firefighters managed to confine the December fire to the fifth floor, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the plaza and causing more extensive damage. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in that incident either, highlighting the effectiveness of the emergency response teams in handling such crises. These recurring incidents underscore the need for enhanced fire safety measures in Lahore’s crowded market areas, where the risk of fire hazards remains high due to the storage of flammable materials like cloth and other textiles.

As investigations continue into the cause of the recent fire at Lunda Bazaar, authorities are expected to review existing safety protocols and consider stricter enforcement of fire prevention regulations. Meanwhile, traders and local residents remain vigilant, hoping that lessons learned from past incidents will lead to improved safety standards and reduce the likelihood of future fires in these vital commercial districts.
