Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered authorities to revoke the licences of petrol pumps that fail to help registered beneficiaries of the Prime Minister’s Fuel Relief Programme. The directive was announced in a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office on Thursday.

The instruction came at a meeting he chaired to review the scheme’s progress, which has drawn more than 15.5 million citizens who have signed up for the subsidy. According to the statement, the goal is to ensure eligible people receive the relief without unnecessary obstacles.

Prime Minister praises simpler registration and transparent system

Shehbaz said he was satisfied with the progress and openness of the initiative. He credited simpler registration and subsidy redemption procedures with boosting sign-ups and helping more deserving citizens benefit. He described the technology-based scheme as a model that could guide future public welfare initiatives.
