An online bike rider was left distressed late last night after two armed men on a motorcycle held him up near Shaheed-e-Millat Road in Karachi. The robbers took his mobile phone and cash at gunpoint before riding off.
The victim was later seen sitting by the roadside, crying. He told people that he had already been targeted in two separate robberies before this one.
Rider fears for his income and children
The rider said he had bought the stolen phone two months ago for Rs25,000. He asked how he could now afford another one, saying he was worried about keeping up his earnings.
He added that he leaves home every day to work hard for his children. He said he wants justice for what happened to him.
Police await complaint as CCTV is gathered
Police officials said no formal complaint has been filed so far. Even so, they are obtaining CCTV footage from the crime scene and nearby areas as part of the investigation.
Earlier road rage case involving a delivery rider in DHA
The robbery follows an earlier case in July this year, when police arrested a suspect over a road rage attack on a food delivery rider in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) area of Karachi. According to police, the man was picked up in a raid at Badar Commercial, and his vehicle was seized as well. Police said he was allegedly preparing to leave for another city before his arrest.
That dispute started with a small crash involving a car and a motorcycle. The driver reportedly got out in anger and hit the bike repeatedly with a hockey stick, causing heavy damage. He then pursued the courier with the stick and allegedly threatened him severely, after which the rider moved to pursue legal action against the man.
