As the holy month of Ramadan approaches in 2026, many Muslims in Islamabad are preparing to undertake Itikaf, a deeply spiritual practice observed during the final ten days of this sacred month. Itikaf involves dedicating oneself entirely to worship, prayer, and recitation of the Holy Quran, allowing believers to seek closeness to Allah through focused devotion and self-reflection. Traditionally, men perform Itikaf within mosque premises, while women often observe this spiritual retreat at home, creating an atmosphere of tranquility and piety.

In Islamabad, a city known for its peaceful environment and religious harmony, several mosques and religious institutions provide ideal settings for those wishing to engage in Itikaf. The Faisal Mosque, the national symbol of Pakistan’s Islamic heritage, stands out as a premier location. Its expansive prayer halls and serene surroundings offer worshippers a calm and contemplative space to immerse themselves in spiritual activities. The mosque’s iconic architecture and spacious layout make it a preferred destination for many during the last ten nights of Ramadan.

Beyond Faisal Mosque, other notable mosques in Islamabad also cater to the needs of those observing Itikaf. Masjid-e-Quba, situated in the F-6 sector, is well-regarded for its family-friendly environment and peaceful ambiance, making it suitable for both individuals and groups seeking spiritual solace. Similarly, Masjid-e-Anwar-e-Madina in G-10 is appreciated for its quiet atmosphere and roomy interiors, which help worshippers maintain focus and devotion during their retreat.

In the I-8 sector, Masjid Al-Huda provides an excellent venue for personal worship and meditation, especially during the critical last ten days of Ramadan when Muslims intensify their prayers and Quranic recitations. Additionally, Masjid-e-Shah Faisal Colony serves the local community by offering a supportive environment for spiritual seclusion and religious commitment, allowing worshippers to disconnect from daily distractions and concentrate on their faith.

Islamabad’s religious education centers also play a significant role in facilitating structured Itikaf programs. Prestigious madrassas such as Jamia Binoria Islamabad organize comprehensive religious activities tailored for both men and women, ensuring that participants receive spiritual guidance alongside their worship. Darul Uloom Haqqania Islamabad is another esteemed institution known for its scholarly atmosphere, where students and devotees alike benefit from expert religious instruction and a disciplined environment.

Furthermore, Jamia Al-Farooqia located in G-11 offers a tranquil setting with dedicated arrangements for Itikaf, combining peaceful surroundings with organized worship sessions. These madrassas not only provide physical spaces for retreat but also foster a community spirit among participants, enhancing the overall spiritual experience during Ramadan.

Observing Itikaf is a cherished tradition that allows Muslims to deepen their connection with Allah through uninterrupted prayer, Quranic study, and introspection. Whether performed in the mosque by men or at home by women, this spiritual retreat encourages believers to detach from worldly concerns and focus entirely on their faith. As Ramadan 2026 draws near, Muslims across Islamabad and the wider country are urged to make early preparations. Ensuring proper arrangements for accommodation, worship materials, and a peaceful environment will help maximize the benefits of this sacred practice during the last ten days of Ramadan.
