A magistrate in Rawalpindi extended the physical remand of Faisal Asghar, husband of Hina Javed, and their domestic worker Zeeshan by an additional three days on Wednesday as part of the ongoing murder investigation.

Hina Javed’s body was discovered in the bathroom of her residence located in the Lalkurti area, under the jurisdiction of the Civil Lines police station, earlier this week. Following the discovery, authorities arrested Faisal Asghar and Zeeshan on suspicion of involvement in the murder. The couple had been married for nine months, police statements.

During the court hearing, police presented the suspects and requested an extension of their custody to facilitate further inquiry. Advocate Shah Khawar, representing the deceased’s family, expressed confidence in the investigation, noting that forensic tests and evidence collection were progressing effectively.

In a significant development two days prior, Zeeshan confessed to strangling and assaulting Hina Javed. He revealed that he was summoned amid a marital dispute between Hina and Faisal. Zeeshan stated that when Hina attempted to escape, both he and Faisal restrained her, and he applied pressure to her throat. Additionally, he admitted to repeatedly stealing from the household.

Police reports indicate that Hina’s father-in-law had contacted authorities, reporting a break-in at the residence. Upon arrival, officers found Hina’s body bound to a shower fixture in the bathroom.

The post-mortem examination, conducted by Dr. Maria Khalid approximately 12 hours after Hina’s death, revealed multiple injuries including a fractured neck bone and marks on her ribs and hip. The report also noted blood accumulation in the victim’s heart and pericardium. DNA and other forensic samples were collected and sent to laboratories for further analysis. However, the exact cause of death remains inconclusive at this stage.
