Saudi Arabia records 13,822 violations in inspection campaigns

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior said on Saturday that it found 13,822 violations of labor, residence and border security laws during inspection campaigns carried out between October 8 and 14.

The ministry’s figures, as relayed by the Saudi Press Agency, show that 34,834 expatriates are now going through procedures linked to the enforcement drive.

Breakdown of violations and detentions during the inspections

According to the Saudi Press Agency, the violations included:

  • 6,547 residence offenses
  • 3,896 border security infractions
  • 3,379 labor code violations

Over the week, authorities detained 2,021 people trying to enter the kingdom illegally, and a further 28 were held for the same offense. The ministry also said 24 people were arrested on suspicion of employing, housing or transporting violators.

Expatriates facing procedures and departures

Of the 34,834 expatriates going through procedures, 32,433 are men and 2,401 are women. The ministry said 20,190 people held for breaking the rules were told to obtain travel documents through their embassies or consulates.

A further 6,509 were advised to plan their departure, while 9,454 had been returned, according to the ministry.

Penalties for aiding violators and reporting channels

The ministry warned that anyone who helps illegal entry, transports violators or offers them shelter or other services faces up to 15 years in prison and a penalty of up to SAR1 million. Properties used to shelter violators and vehicles used to move them may also be seized.

The ministry urged the public to report suspected violations, describing them as serious felonies that call for arrest. Residents of Makkah, Riyadh and the Eastern Province can dial 911, while reports from other parts of the kingdom can be made via 999 or 996.
