Punjab Inspector General of Police Abdul Karim announced the conclusion of investigations into the deaths of two women, Amina and Anmol, who died while in Township police custody. The inquiry was conducted transparently and culminated with the receipt of the final forensic report.

The report confirmed the presence of nine distinct drugs in samples taken from the women. A medical board unanimously determined that their deaths resulted from cardiopulmonary arrest caused by combined drug toxicity. Importantly, the board found no indications of physical torture, external injuries, or wounds on their bodies.

Further, a magisterial inquiry under Section 176 of the Code of Criminal Procedure found no evidence of police-inflicted torture. The women had been brought to the Township police station following a response to an emergency call. Both had prior records involving multiple cases of alleged fraud and deception, with cases registered in Lahore and Gujrat.

Initial medical observations noted several injection marks on their arms, consistent with repeated injections. The Punjab Forensic Science Authority (PFSA) collected forensic samples and submitted the detailed report.

In a related development, regarding the alleged rape at Ghaziabad police station, immediate action was taken to arrest the accused, identified as assistant sub-inspector Imran. Personnel found negligent in this matter were suspended, and departmental inquiries were launched. The victim underwent mental health assessments at the Punjab Institute of Mental Health, which diagnosed her with mild intellectual disability.

The PFSA’s DNA analysis revealed that the accused’s DNA did not match the samples obtained from the victim. The investigation into the Ghaziabad case continues on its merits, with assurances that justice will be served the law.

Significant progress was also reported in the murder case of Hina Javed in Rawalpindi. Hina was discovered dead in her home in the Lalkurti area, with her body tied to a shower in the bathroom. Initially treated as a suicide, the case was later registered as murder following a post-mortem that revealed multiple injuries, including a fractured neck and marks on her ribs and hip.

Her husband Faisal Asghar and a domestic worker named Zeeshan were arrested and sent on a three-day physical remand for further investigation. Three suspects have been named in the FIR, with two currently in custody. Authorities confirmed that an initial attempt was made to disguise the murder as suicide, but subsequent investigations firmly established it as homicide. The probe will continue strictly on merit.

Regarding the murder of Abdullah Tahir, investigations are ongoing, with efforts focused on apprehending the alleged shooters who have fled to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Police are also working to repatriate accused individuals currently abroad.

Additionally, progress has been made in the case of two police officers killed in Lahore’s Badami Bagh area. Police have traced a fugitive terrorist’s location and anticipate his imminent arrest.

On the status of the Dolphin Force, the IGP clarified that it is not being disbanded but reorganised. Control of the force will be transferred to the respective station house officers to enhance its operational effectiveness.
