Karachi Police Announce Traffic Plan for 12 Rabi ul Awwal Processions

Karachi Traffic Police have introduced a detailed traffic management scheme for the processions commemorating Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), set for August 26 (Wednesday). The plan encompasses three major processions departing from Memon Masjid after 2pm, with Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) Traffic assigned to oversee processions within their respective districts personally.

Globally, Muslims observe the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on the 12th of Rabi ul Awwal, the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar. To ease traffic flow during the celebrations, authorities have designated alternative routes for motorists in Karachi’s Central, East, and South districts.

In District Central, drivers coming from Nazimabad are advised to use Lasbela Chowk towards Nishter Road and Garden to reach their destinations. Those travelling from Liaquatabad should turn left at Teen Hatti, proceeding towards Sandal Jail on Martin Road. Additionally, traffic moving from Hasan Square towards Paposh Nagar can navigate via Kashmir Road, Society Light Signal, Shahrah-e-Quaidin, and Jail Flyover before reaching Teen Hatti and Nishter Road.

Meanwhile, in District East, motorists travelling from Shahrah-e-Faisal towards Numaish via Shahrah-e-Quaidin may turn right at Society Light Signal towards Kashmir Road. Traffic from Central Jail gate on Jamshed Road heading towards Guru Mandir and MA Jinnah Road is advised to use Bahadur Yar Jung Road and Soldier Bazaar.

In District South, vehicles travelling from Garden Zoo towards MA Jinnah Road can take the route through Anarkali area towards Gul Plaza and Coast Guard Road. Traffic coming from Kemari towards MA Jinnah Road via Empress Market will be redirected from Saddar Dawakhana towards People’s Chowrangi. Those heading towards Prince Road will be diverted via Abdullah Haroon Road towards MR Kayani Chowk.

Notably, traffic from MR Kayani Chowk towards Court Road and Kabutar Chowrangi will be restricted. Instead, vehicles will be rerouted from Arts Council towards Pakistan Chowk. Traffic moving from Shahrah-e-Liaquat towards Burns Road will be diverted at Aram Bagh Light Signal towards Pakistan Chowk.

In a significant development, the traffic police have imposed a ban on heavy commercial vehicles across the city on 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal. Furthermore, parking will be prohibited along all procession routes to ensure smooth movement during the event.
