Domestic Worker Admits to Strangling Hina Javed in Rawalpindi Case

In Rawalpindi’s Lalkurti area, a domestic worker named Zeeshan has confessed to strangling and torturing Hina Javed, a married woman found dead in her home. Zeeshan was taken into police custody alongside the prime suspect, Faisal Asghar, and admitted to his role in the crime during interrogation.

Zeeshan revealed that he was called to intervene during a marital dispute between Hina and Faisal. When Hina attempted to escape the confrontation, both Faisal and Zeeshan restrained her. Zeeshan confessed to applying pressure to her throat as she resisted. Additionally, he admitted to frequently stealing from the household.

Police were initially alerted by Hina’s father-in-law, who reported a break-in at the residence. Upon arrival, officers discovered Hina’s body tied to a shower fixture in the bathroom. The investigation is being led by SSP Investigation Saifullah.

In a significant development, a local court granted police a three-day physical remand for both Faisal and Zeeshan after their presentation before a magistrate. The investigating officer informed the court that a rope and wire, allegedly used in the murder, were recovered from the suspects.

Hina had been married to Faisal for nine months, police officials. The inquiry has also involved Faisal’s father, whose statement has been recorded. Initial police reports suggested that Hina was hanged by her husband.

The post-mortem examination, conducted by Dr. Maria Khalid about 12 hours after Hina’s death, revealed multiple injuries including a fractured neck bone and marks on her ribs and hip. The report also noted that her pericardium and heart were filled with blood. Forensic samples, including DNA, were collected by Lady Constable Rafia Tabassum and sent to laboratories for further analysis. The initial findings stated that the exact cause of death could not be definitively determined.

Meanwhile, the murder case was brought up in the National Assembly, where Speaker Ayaz Sadiq expressed concern over Hina Javed’s killing. He acknowledged her work on an NITB project within parliament and assured full support to the Women Caucus, directing the Human Rights and Interior committees to review the case.

Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar confirmed that he had contacted Punjab officials and police immediately after learning of the incident and had gathered details from law enforcement agencies. He pledged that the case would be pursued to its logical conclusion and emphasized the government’s commitment to cooperating fully with committee proceedings. The Speaker has instructed him to provide all necessary assistance in the investigation.
