Three More Arrested in Lahore Police Targeted Killing Investigation

Authorities have apprehended three additional suspects linked to the targeted assassination of three police officers in Lahore, bringing the total number of detainees to five. Among those arrested are the daughter of the primary suspect and a rickshaw driver believed to have aided the perpetrators.

Investigations reveal the 21-year-old daughter attended the same seminary as her elder brother, who is also implicated. Forensic teams are currently analyzing her mobile phone and social media activity to gather further evidence.

The rickshaw driver, hailing from Manawan, is accused of transporting the suspects from Badami Bagh to Nawan Kot, officials involved in the case.

In a significant development, the inquiry uncovered that the main suspect’s elder son had previously targeted two police officers in 2024 after his release from prison. He was subsequently killed during an alleged encounter with law enforcement.

Police have identified a pattern of targeted killings connected to members of the same family over the past two years, which is being examined as part of the ongoing case study.

Further questioning is underway for other relatives of the father-and-son suspects, along with two police officers who were reportedly in contact with them. Authorities are also scrutinizing the mobile phone records and social media accounts of the detained officers to uncover any links.

Efforts continue to locate an accomplice of the main suspects who remains at large, as the investigation proceeds.

Meanwhile, Sub-Inspector Adeel Ashiq, who lost his life in the Badami Bagh attack, was laid to rest at Masoomia Cemetery on Bund Road. His funeral prayers were attended by DIG Operations Faisal Kamran, fellow police officers, personnel, and family members of the martyr.
