Lahore’s Chief Traffic Officer (CTO), Abdul Rahim Shirazi, has ordered that cases be registered against heavy traffic entering the city during prohibited hours. The measure aims to prevent accidents and ensure safe travel.
He has directed strict checks on public service vehicles, commercial traffic and heavy traffic on roads during prohibited timings. Operators running heavy traffic during restricted hours will face direct legal cases, he warned.
Daytime and overnight limits on heavy vehicles
The CTO stated that heavy traffic is completely banned during daytime hours in the city. He added that it cannot enter Lahore before 11:00 PM, and further noted that it cannot enter after 7:00 AM.
He also banned tractor-trolleys, trailers, trucks and construction machinery from entering the city during daytime hours.
Phased entry and fixed timings for oil tankers
According to the CTO, heavy traffic is being allowed entry in a phased manner. Oil tankers are permitted to enter only during designated fixed timings.
