The Islamabad Traffic Police have implemented a comprehensive traffic diversion plan for the Independence Day festivities at the Victory Monument located in the federal capital’s H-8 sector. Heavy vehicle entry into Islamabad will be prohibited from midnight on August 12 until midnight on August 14 to ensure smooth traffic flow during the event.

Several key roads and intersections will be either closed or redirected for light vehicles throughout the celebrations. Notably, the stretch from Koral Chowk to Khayaban Chowk, including both sides of the Expressway and Faisal Avenue, will be closed to traffic. Drivers coming from Rawat and Koral heading towards Islamabad are advised to take alternative routes via Khanna Pul, Lehtrar Road, Park Road, Rawal Dam Chowk, Murree Road, Serena Hotel, Soharwardi Road, and Jinnah Avenue.

Meanwhile, motorists traveling from Khayaban Chowk towards Koral are directed to use Jinnah Avenue, Ninth Avenue, Double Road, Murree Road, Rawal Road, and Old Airport Road. Restrictions will also be enforced around Faizabad Interchange, Rawal Dam, and the Expressway, affecting traffic flow in these areas.

For those commuting between Rawalpindi and Islamabad, the recommended routes include Ninth Avenue, Jinnah Avenue, and Murree Road via Rawal Dam Chowk, depending on their destination. Roads surrounding Garden Flyover, I-8 sector, Faiz Ahmed Faiz Road, Mir Chakar Road, Judicial Academy, and Mir Zafarullah Road leading to the Victory Monument will remain closed to all traffic.

Residents of I-8 and H-8 are encouraged to use I-8 Markaz, Ninth Avenue, and Jinnah Avenue when traveling towards Islamabad. For journeys heading towards Rawalpindi, motorists should utilize Ninth Avenue, IJP Road, Double Road, and Murree Road. Additionally, Garden Shakarparian will be closed towards I-8 and Faisal Avenue, with alternatives such as Seventh Avenue, Jinnah Avenue, and Ninth Avenue suggested for those traveling towards I-8.

Traffic restrictions will also be in place at Chand Tara T-Cross near Shakarparian, with Seventh Avenue or Murree Road recommended as detours. Both sides of Peshawar Road towards Kuri Road Chowk and Srinagar Highway will be closed, prompting drivers from Islamabad Chowk via Srinagar Highway to use Peshawar Mor Flyover, Ninth Avenue, Jinnah Avenue, and Margalla Road instead.

Motorists coming from Murree and Bhara Kahu towards Islamabad should follow Murree Road, pass Serena Hotel, and use Soharwardi Road and Jinnah Avenue. Those traveling from Bhara Kahu, Murree, and Islamabad towards Rawalpindi are advised to take Rawal Dam Chowk, Park Road, Captain Naeem Tufail Shaheed Chowk, Lehtrar Road, Khanna, and the Expressway.

Finally, travelers heading to Islamabad International Airport are instructed to use Margalla Road, Jinnah Avenue, Peshawar Mor Flyover, Srinagar Highway, and Iran Avenue for smooth access during the event period.
