The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a forecast predicting widespread pre-monsoon rainfall across Punjab starting tomorrow and continuing until July 6. Authorities have cautioned residents about the potential for urban flooding in several districts and emphasized the importance of taking necessary safety measures.

Rainfall is expected in major cities and regions including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Murree, the Galiyat area, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, and Gujrat. Additional showers are anticipated in Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Faisalabad, Khushab, Sargodha, Sheikhupura, and Narowal.

PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia advised people to stay indoors during thunderstorms and avoid open areas when lightning is present. He also urged tourists visiting northern regions to exercise heightened caution due to the adverse weather conditions forecasted.

The wet weather is also expected to impact Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Pakpattan, Nankana Sahib, Okara, Kasur, as well as Bhakkar, Layyah, Mianwali, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, and Khanewal districts.

In a significant development, the PDMA warned that heavy rains could cause urban flooding in low-lying parts of Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Faisalabad. Following directives from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, provincial commissioners and deputy commissioners have been placed on high alert to ensure readiness for any emergencies.

The PDMA has also urged the public to report any weather-related emergencies by contacting its helpline at 1129.
