In a significant development in Bannu district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a joint operation by police and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel resulted in the deaths of eight suspected militants. The operation, based on actionable intelligence, took place in the Miryan police station area.
During the raid, a fierce exchange of gunfire ensued, leading to the elimination of eight militants and injuries to several others. Tragically, one police official lost his life, while another sustained injuries in the firefight.
Following the confrontation, security forces secured the area and conducted thorough search operations to neutralize any remaining threats. The City Police Officer (CPO) confirmed the successful outcome of the mission and highlighted the coordinated efforts of the police and CTD teams.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Inspector General Zulfiqar Hameed commended the operation, emphasizing the police’s commitment to responding decisively to hostile actions. He reiterated that counter-militancy efforts would persist throughout the province to safeguard citizens.
The IGP also acknowledged the frontline role played by the police in protecting lives and property. In recognition of their bravery and effective performance during the Bannu operation, rewards were announced for the involved police personnel.
