Authorities in Lahore have apprehended a couple suspected of carrying out numerous burglaries across the city. The Samanabad police detained the husband and wife, who were reportedly involved in breaking into locked residences and stealing valuables.

The Lahore Police Operations Wing confirmed that the suspects had prior criminal records and were linked to multiple cases. During questioning, they admitted to committing at least seven burglaries. Police also recovered cash and stolen items from their possession.

The arrests were made in connection with FIR No. 345/26 filed at the Samanabad police station. Notably, the couple would bring a small child along during their reconnaissance visits to avoid raising suspicion while selecting target houses.

Special officers have been assigned to specifically address the rise in burglary incidents in the area. This operation was conducted under the supervision of SP Iqbal Town, Sidra Khan. Investigators are continuing to gather additional evidence to build a stronger case against the accused.

The Lahore Police Operations Wing emphasized that safeguarding citizens’ lives and property remains their highest priority.

Meanwhile, the Crime Control Department (CCD) reported a significant decline in crime rates across Punjab. During the first quarter of 2026, serious crimes decreased by 56%, reflecting improved security measures.

The CCD highlighted that specialized police units have contributed to this positive trend. Compared to the same period last year, murders during robberies fell by 50%, and injury-related incidents dropped by 68%.
