Rawalpindi police responded to a disturbance at a wedding ceremony in the Mandrah area, where the bride reportedly discharged a firearm. Following the incident, authorities registered a case based on a complaint filed by ASI Wasim Akhtar.

Upon receiving reports of gunfire, officers promptly arrived at the scene in Gohra. Both the bride and groom had fled the location by then. After a pursuit, police successfully apprehended the bride and confiscated a 30-bore pistol from her possession. The groom, identified as Shahryar, remains missing as the investigation continues.

Authorities have confirmed that legal proceedings are underway in connection with the registered case. Meanwhile, the search for the groom is ongoing.

In a related tragic event, on January 11, 2026, a cylinder explosion in Islamabad’s Sector G-7/2 claimed the lives of at least eight people, including a bride and groom, and injured 11 others. The blast caused significant damage to several houses in the area.

Rescue teams responded swiftly, extracting 15 individuals from the affected homes, though five later died from their injuries. The injured were transported to nearby hospitals for urgent medical care. Officials have confirmed that all trapped residents have been rescued and relief efforts have been completed.
