OGRA Increases LPG Prices for June Amid Rising Household Costs

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced an increase in the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for the month of June, raising the cost of a standard domestic cylinder by Rs58.51. This adjustment comes amid ongoing inflationary pressures impacting household energy expenses.

the official notification, the price per kilogram of LPG has been raised by Rs4.95, setting the new consumer rate at Rs308.76 per kg for June. Consequently, the price of an 11.8-kg domestic cylinder has been fixed at Rs3,643.41, up from the previous month’s rate. These revised prices will be effective starting June 1.

LPG remains a vital fuel source for cooking and heating in millions of Pakistani homes, especially in rural and remote areas where access to the national natural gas distribution network is limited. It is also widely utilized in mountainous regions and smaller towns where piped gas infrastructure is not yet fully developed.

In a significant development, this price hike is expected to further strain household budgets, as consumers are already facing increased costs for utilities and daily living. LPG prices in Pakistan are closely tied to international market dynamics and fluctuations in exchange rates, with OGRA announcing monthly revisions accordingly.

While OGRA has not provided detailed explanations for this latest price increase, such adjustments are generally influenced by changes in the Saudi Aramco Contract Price and other global market factors.
