Former West Indies cricketer and commentator Ian Bishop has praised Pakistan batter Maaz Sadaqat after his explosive innings in the second T20I against Sri Lanka at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday. The 21-year-old played a pivotal role in Pakistan’s commanding 82-run win, which gave the hosts an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Bishop shared his admiration for Sadaqat’s batting on the social media platform X. He said he had earlier enjoyed watching the young batter during the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026. “His good form continues for Pakistan, and we hope he has a long and successful career,” Bishop wrote. “He is a nice 360 batter.”
Sadaqat’s 96 powers Pakistan to 215-3
Asked to bat first, Pakistan posted 215-3 in their 20 overs, with Sadaqat leading the charge with 96 off just 51 deliveries. The left-hander struck six fours and seven sixes, maintaining a strike rate of 188.23 as he dominated the Sri Lankan attack. He narrowly missed out on what would have been his maiden T20I century.
In reply, Sri Lanka struggled to build momentum in their chase of the 216-run target. The visitors were restricted to 133-7 in 20 overs, handing Pakistan a comprehensive victory and ensuring the hosts wrapped up the series with one match remaining.
Strong CPL 2026 campaign for Jamaica Kingsmen
Sadaqat’s display continued the form he showed during his stint in the CPL earlier this year. Representing Jamaica Kingsmen, he finished as the tournament’s third-highest run-scorer. He amassed 363 runs in seven matches at an average of 51.85 and a strike rate of 174.51, including two centuries.
