Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has updated the itinerary for its ongoing long march, instructing caravans from Malakand to commence their journey on October 11. Meanwhile, the main march, now in its fourth day, will reach Swabi on October 10 instead of the initially planned October 8, party sources.

The march is expected to proceed from Khyber to Peshawar before heading towards Charsadda. It will also pass through Mohmand, Mardan, Bajaur, and finally Malakand, as per the revised plan.

These adjustments come amid heightened political tensions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has strongly criticized a security meeting convened by the provincial governor. Afridi described the gathering as unconstitutional and an affront to democratic norms.

Speaking at a cabinet meeting, Afridi emphasized that the elected government, backed by a two-thirds majority in the provincial assembly, remains fully operational. He accused the governor of summoning key officials, including the chief secretary and inspector general, to hold unauthorized meetings, calling such actions an attack on the Constitution and democracy.

The chief minister announced that the legality of the governor’s meeting held on Tuesday would be reviewed after consulting the advocate general. He underscored that the proper constitutional mechanism for removing a chief minister is through a no-confidence motion, not through such meetings.

Afridi further alleged that the governor’s conduct was intended to provoke the provincial government into an unwarranted response. He vowed to resist any attempts to undermine democratic governance, labeling the governor’s actions as unconstitutional.

Additionally, Afridi criticized the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), accusing it of prioritizing personal interests over national welfare in past political conduct.
