Pakistan strongly condemned a deliberate drone incursion originating from Afghan territory on September 23, describing it as a serious breach of its sovereignty and territorial integrity. In response, the country carried out precision strikes on 10 sites in Afghanistan that were reportedly used to launch and store the drones.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar stated that Pakistan’s air defense systems successfully detected, tracked, and neutralized all drones before they could reach their intended targets. Following this, Pakistan executed calibrated aerial and drone strikes targeting the identified military locations directly linked to the attempted attacks.
Tarar emphasized that these retaliatory strikes were deliberate, precise, and proportionate, strictly confined to military objectives associated with the drone incursions. He reiterated Pakistan’s longstanding concerns about terrorist sanctuaries and support networks operating from Afghan soil, which Islamabad has repeatedly raised with the Afghan Taliban regime and its representatives.
He warned that Pakistan will neither tolerate nor accept any attacks launched from Afghan territory, whether by terrorist groups or the Afghan Taliban itself. Any further violations of Pakistan’s sovereignty would provoke an immediate and decisive response. Tarar also dismissed any threats or denials from the Afghan Taliban as irrelevant to Pakistan’s right to defend its territory and citizens.
Pakistan urged the Afghan Taliban administration to immediately cease hostile activities and take effective, concrete, verifiable, and sustained measures against militant groups operating within Afghanistan. Tarar stressed that Afghan soil must not be used as a base for attacks or hostile operations against Pakistan.
Despite the strong response, Pakistan expressed no desire for escalation and reaffirmed its commitment to regional peace, dialogue, and constructive engagement. The country remains resolute in defending its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the safety of its citizens, pledging to take all necessary actions to ensure their protection.
